A Life Lesson Learned From Observing Equine Relationships
We can learn so much about our own relationships from horses. My gorgeous Iberian Warmblood, Soleil, had suffered major trauma to his tendons and ligaments last year. I had been advised by three different vets to put him down because he would never have a good quality of life. Something in me rebelled against these thoughts and I wanted to give him a chance.
Alternative therapy–a second chance
I contacted another vet that provided alternative therapies and we started him on “Equine Leg Magic,” a therapy one of the former vets had recommended. He was in various stages of isolation for over a year to protect him from re-injuring himself and to allow the massive trauma to mend. It has been a long and uncertain year but today he returned back to pasture life with his beloved half brother Bam Bam.
Benefits of Animal Relationships
As I observed the relationship between these two horses, I realized that all living things need to feel connected and safe. It doesn’t matter if the connection is another person, a pet or a project. In these times it is especially important to know and express your appreciation for all those individuals that allow us to feel safe and connected. Life Coaching: Learning through equine relationships provide people the opportunity to work on various aspects of their relationships and apply newly learned skills and techniques to their daily routine.
I wish you a wonderful holiday season blessed with happy memories, fabulous gatherings and an all around sweet holiday season!
